Mother Pearl Alumni Association Chemistry Major
Book Stipend Award

Amount TBD (notionally $1000.00)

  • Presented to one deserving student at the beginning of the university’s academic period. 
  • The award recipient must be a sophomore or rising sophomore majoring in Chemistry at Howard University with a GPA among the highest in general chemistry examinations. 
  • The student must have attended high school in the United States or its possessions or territories and in financial need, as deemed by the Chair of the Department of Chemistry or their designee. 
  • The stipend will be allocated to the student at the beginning of their sophomore year and may be used for the purchase of books at the Howard University Bookstore or, upon consultation with MPAA and a university designee, the funds may also be applied to the purchase of digital textbooks (e-textbooks).

The Raiford Younginer Memorial Architecture Student Grant

Amount TBD (notionally $1200.00)

  • Awarded to one sophomore student majoring in Architecture.
  • Recipient must have attended high school in the United States or its possessions or territories. 
  • Recipient must be in financial need as deemed by the Chair of the Department of Architecture. 
  • The award may be used, at the Student’s discretion, for the purchase of school/study related educational material, computer hardware/software, related internships, or tuition. 

The Timothy Robinson Memorial Communications Student Grant

Amount TBD (notionally $1200.00)

  • Awarded to one sophomore student majoring in Communications.
  • Recipient must have attended high school in the United States or its possessions or territories. 
  • Recipient must be in financial need as deemed by the Chair of the School of Communications.
  • The award may be used, at the Student’s discretion, for the purchase of school/study related educational material, computer hardware/software, related internships, or tuition. 

Benjamin D. James III Memorial
Arts & Sciences Student Grant

Amount TBD (notionally $1000.00)

  • Awarded to one student enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Recipient must have attended high school in the United States or its possessions or territories. 
  • Recipient must be in financial need as deemed by the Chair of the College of Arts & Sciences, or as identified by the Alpha Chapter Spring 1984 former Lampados Club. 
  • The award may be used, at the Student’s discretion, for the purchase of school/study related educational material, computer hardware/software, related internships, or tuition.

Lyndly E. Wadley Memorial
School of Business Student Grant

Amount TBD (notionally $1000.00)

  • Awarded to one sophomore student enrolled in the School of Business.
  • Recipient must have attended high school in the United States or its possessions or territories. 
  • Recipient must be in financial need as deemed by the Chair of the School of Business, or as identified by the Alpha Chapter Spring 1984 former Lampados Club.
  • The award may be used, at the Student’s discretion, for the purchase of school/study related educational material, computer hardware/software, related internships, or tuition. 

The Montreal McMorris Memorial
ΩΨΦ Excellence Grant

Amount TBD (notionally $2000.00)

  • Awarded to sophomore or junior student member(s) of Alpha Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity whom has shown steady progress in educational excellence or has persevered to overcome notable hardship while continuing to pursue academic goals. 
  • The Alpha Chapter Advisor will help determine most qualified candidate (s)
  • The award may be used, at the Student’s discretion, for the purchase of school/study related educational material, computer hardware/software, related internships, or tuition

The Harold Cook Memorial
ΩΨΦ Community Excellence Grant

Amount TBD (notionally $1500.00)

  • Awarded to student member(s) of Alpha Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in good academic standing and exemplifying excellence in community/social actions leadership and engagement
  • The Alpha Chapter Advisor will help determine most qualified candidate(s) 
  • The award may be used, at the Student’s discretion, for the purchase of school/study related educational material, computer hardware/software, related internships, or tuition

More Details

The MPAA may elect to support indirect giving opportunities with the university, including, inter alia, the COVID-19 endowment, The Alpha Chapter endowment, the HUAA Emergency Scholarship Fund, and the Gift to Graduating Seniors Fund.

The MPAA will decide, which Stipend, Grant, Award, or Gift is funded and ready for award; and will coordinate funds distributions & nominees with Howard University’s representative.
